Sezul Totoloc, Chief of the Ehcatl Nine, tells the Chocobo Tribune that the Ehcatl Nine have one purpose: "To fly free like wind!" This new Ixali faction revealed a new path for peaceful cooperation between species by developing a revolutionary aircraft that may bring us all together.
EHCATL NINE CAMP, NORTH SHROUD - A bunch of extraordinary rumors traveled a long distance in a very short time, mobilizing an entire region to arms. The idea of Sezul Totoloc, Chief of the Ehcatl Nine, was to pursue dreams of flight and returning to the promised land of "Ayatlan" through craftsmanship rather than worshiping Garuda, the Lady of Vortexes. The goal of Sezul Tololoc has drawn the best artisans and engineers of the Ixal tribe to build a revolutionary new hybrid airship, the Dezul Qualan, combining magitek with traditional Ixali ballooncraft.
"For war with forest people, or pleading greedy goddess, we care not! Fixed on the heavens, our eyes are! Creating much better than destroying, yes? Both Ixal and featherless ones agree on that, they can! Gathering of artisans and engineers, this is. Call ourselves 'Ehcatl Nine'!" Sezul Totoloc claimed.
It would be a mistake, however, to thing that the Ixal would pacifically tolerate the endeavor carried by the Ehcatl Nine. The new factions is considered as heretic for defying and breaking all bounds with Garuda to reach the skies by their own. The Ixal believe that they originally were capable to fly, but they lost this gift after leaving the land of Ayatlan. While the Ehcatl Nine abandoned the cult of Garuda, most of the Ixali beast tribe still worships her. Nevertheless, an increasing number of Ixali artisans are joining the ranks of the Ehcatl Nine and their new project, the Dezul Qualan, named in honor to the mentor of Sezul Tololoc.
The Dezul Qualan─a hybrid vessel intended not to wage war, but to soar above the highest clouds. "This hybrid airship is an extraordinary project," Talamaru explained, "the more I learn of it, the more I come to understand what a remarkable airship the Dezul Qualan is! To be able to work on such a vessel - why, it is an engineer dream come true!"
Talamaru, a lalafell, is only the first of several airship enthusiasts who have joined the dream of Sezul Tololoc, who believes that this project requires the collaboration of all races, particularly craftsmen. The ultimate goal of the Ehcatl Nine is to reach the floating continent of Ayatlan, which is above beyond any airship has ever reached, which means that the Dezul Qualan must surpass existing aeronautical capabilities and reach higher altitudes than any Ixali, Eorzean, or Garlean airship has even reached. The young Talamaru recently became the head-engineer in charge of the Dezul Qualan project.
Flying may not only help the Ixali tribe to find a new path away from sel-destructive fanatism, it may also aid the other nations to work together for a common goal. Sky is not the limit for the dreamers of all nations.
